sure you can train them in many ways…mine fetches a ball and brings it back to me to throw again. I have trained them not to get on my counter tops. Maybe they do when I am not around, but they are not dumb animals. I have trained mine to use scratching posts and not furniture and to not bite my hand when I am petting her.
use a squirt bottle when you catch her doing things you don’t want it only takes a quirt and they get the massage, but you have to catch them in the act and it is better if they don’t see you do it. They will associate the water quirt with what they did instead of you. Use praise and treats for positive reinforcements

It is possible to train your cats. It’s just alot different than training a dog, takes more time and more patience..

They are very smart..but cats are mainly independent and usually do what they want..

Also, I trained my cats to walk with a leash outside…that one isnt as hard as others and they usually tend to figure it out quicker than other things…

I saw a guy train several kittens to do all the things you see tigers and lions do in the circus. He had all these little boxes for them to sit on and then had them walking across narrow boards, standing up on their hind legs, jumping through hoops, etc. If you have the patience, you can do that, too. I taught one of my cats to do things like that. First you have to find some treat they can eat that they really, really like. Then you start with something simple like jumping up in a chair. You tap the chair and say “up” and then hold the treat over the seat where the cat can see it. When it gets up on the chair, you give it the treat. Then, tap the floor and say “down” and put a treat down there so they hop down to get it. It’s all just patience and repeating things over and over. You just can’t do it for long, because they get tired quickly and lose interest. I have to give my cat medicine twice a day and he’s so used to the routine, if I’m late, he comes and gets me and then sits in his usual medicine place and waits on me. The point being that if you are consistant with giving the cat a treat, it will consistantly do what you ask to get the treat.

I have taught my cat how to shake hands and high five.I just shook hands with it and rewarded him with a treat or a pat after he had done what I wanted.After awhile I just said “shake” and he would lift his paw and shake my hand.
