Kittens don’t require much (or any) training at all – if they are left with the mother, she will apparently teach them what to do.

They also seem to have an instinctive reaction when they go to the toilet; they dig a hole, and then cover it over.

Since i have heard (but not experienced) that puppies need to actually be trained by humans, and AFAIK they don’t have the same instinctive reaction as cats do, I would assume that puppies are harder.

It is basicly instinct for a cat/kitten to go into a litter box, do thier business and then bury it.

it could take weeks to potty train a dog/puppy.

not at all .i have got a dog and when she was a puppy she was very easy to train but when i got my cat it was a lot harder.

Yes. A cat that is litter trained will train its kittens to use a litter tray. Dogs aren’t that clever!
Cats like to "go" somewhere specially for the purpose and will quickly learn the litter is that place so long as it is kept clean. Just place them on the litter when they start to "go".

Dogs naturally just go wherever they are, making it harder for them to grasp the idea of toilet training.

When comes to dogs/puppies it really depends on their breed, on how easy they will be able to train. Some are very smart and will learn right away other you would have to keep at it. Once again it all depends on there breeds. I personally think that cats are easier to train because when they are kittens all you have to do it get a wash cloth run it under warm water then simply gently rub the cloth on their personal areas, they will usually start to pee then place them in the litter box and they will finished their business then automatically know to cover up their business then they are on there way. To do what ever they want to do and there is no accidents around house to find. I think that yes cat are easier to train.

the mama cat teaches the kitten to use the litter box.. with a puppy.. its not hard as long as you stay on top of it and start as early as possible.. for new born pups.. they start training as soon as the mom stops helping them and you find little poops and wet spots in their beds.
